Cowardice

Fear flies up
like a cloud of spiders,
obscuring the whole
of my sky;
pointed legs
jerk and twist
as the gnashing swarm
closes in.

With the heaving bulk
of my body trampled
by nearly weightless feet
and my ears full
of the sound of fangs
flexing and rasping;
knives being sharpened,

I submit to the dance
of that multitude.

    I like that line. Forgive me if I misread, but to me it looks like you are saying that people get crushed by fear even though fear can’t do anything to you if you don’t let it. “You have nothing to fear but fear itself”
