Between a breath and

the one that never follows,

you slip away;

crippled body left behind

like leaves dropped after a storm.

Forgotten, unnecessary –

    The first two lines – I’ve just read them quite a few times and that is what death is from the observer’s point of view – watching, watching, watching – and then ……………… stop. You captured this moment beautifully Gay. As you say the suffering is now over, I’m sure he appreciated the healing time the 2 of you had together at the end – I hope things are moving on 🙂

    Is this your father, Coin&Feather? Your poem resonates very much with me. I am sorry for your loss
